    Default Trip to the zoo

I took the kids to the zoo today. We have a wonderful zoo here with completely fantastic exhibits. In the past, I had never paid much attention to the frog enclosures except to look at the frogs themselves. Now that I know so much more about how things SHOULD be, I was disappointed to say the least.

There was only one decent sized enclosure there, and they had geckos, chameleons, and tomato frogs all mixed together. Then they had a few more that I took some pics of.

Here was their PDF exhibit --

    Horned frog --

A smaller tomato frog who I happened to catch chirping --

Their exhibits were just so plain and tiny, not what I would expect from a zoo that has so many wonderful enclosures for other animals, including their snakes, turtles, fish, etc. Then the multiple breeds of pdf's on top of it all crammed into that little tank.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss. It was exciting for the kids to see them though.

Amy, the calling Tomato Frog is fantastic. You're really lucky to see that. I can't recall if I've ever seen a photo of one calling! I'm not a fan of the mixed dart frog terrarium though.

One off-topic minor point. While I understand people using photobucket and related sites, often pictures get moved around or deleted over the months and years, and as you can probably imagine, if that happens to your photos then this thread is going to be pretty empty. Therefore I always encourage people to either attach the images to the message here on frogforum, or to make use of our awesome albums.

I was also very excited to see that! I wish I had a camera other than my phone on me, I could have gotten much better pictures.

I'm a photobucket junky for some reason, I have never deleted/moved photos so that shouldn't be an issue unless photobucket does something to them. I guess I got used to it because other forums that I've been on do not want you using up the server space by uploading pics onto it. If that method is preferred though, I will make use of it from now on.

Amy I think the tomato frog is pretty happy. I'm glad you had a great day. The set ups tho look bad for a zoo .I've seen better setups in petco. But its nice to get out.

That's what I'm saying. We should start our own with the appropriate homes for them and a fun amphibian, reptile, and fish theme
