Default What consistency should the clay be?

Hi i just mixed a big bucket of kitty litter and peat and thoroughly mixed the whole bucket handful by handful! Im wondering what consistency the clay should be? Im able to form it into a ball and with a flat open hand have the ball stay upside down or with my fingers straight up to sky with the clay in my palm. Im wondering if its a little to soft?? Im going to go through again a little later when i have time and put some moss in.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That sounds about right. Try sticking a big clump to some vertical glass and see if it slides down. Its kind of just trial and error when you do your first tank. When you gave the consistency you like do the background and then let it sit overnight. If it slides then tear it out and work it again. Very quickly you'll figure out what works and future tank will go quicker.

ok will do! but my main concern is that it will stay soft and not really harden alittle which i feel could be bad for the frogs ?? and then to plant plants im assuming i can just stick it into the clay?

It has to be kept moist by misting. If it is allowed to dry out to the point that it hardens and cracks. Being hard will be the least of your worries as it will fall off the glass first.
