My WTR has just started leaning to one side. She doesn't want to eat and is very scared if I try to pick her up. (This is not normal for her at all). She has always been quite content to sit on my hand and stay with me for a while. She did pass some blood just before passing a stool.
Can anyone offer any advice? Please, as she is my number one girl.
Thank you.![]()
Frogs should not really be handled at all it just causes undue stress. I would take her to a qualified vet as soon as possible.
I agree with the others, you need to get her to an amphibian savvy vet asap.
2.0.3 Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"
2.2.0 Agalychnis callidryas "Red Eyed Tree Frogs"
0.0.3 Dendrobates auratus "Turquoise and Bronze"
0.0.1 Anaxyrus fowleri "Fowler's Toad"
Thank you for your offer, but there are no amphibian vets around here.
It is now Nov. and my White's (Mama Cass) is still with me. I have been working very closely with her and she now eating. I do have to hand feed her as she can no longer catch her own food. She watches for me and will take from my hand. This she did before as well. She can move from her rock to her water pond and back again, but that is usually as far as she will go. She has not lost any weight, but does lose blood with a bowl movement. I keep a watch on her many time a day and maintain her electrolytes and calcium levels. She seems to be doing ok with the leaning to one side and not moving as much as before, but I am very concerned about the bleeding. Can you offer any help?
Thank you all for your input.
Nancy (mamacass)
