Is that some type of moss in there? Alot of people recommend staying away from them.

Good looking frog! And welcome to the forum. There are care articles for pacman frogs that you might want to check out. I know I had no clue what I was doing when I started. This forum has been a Huge help! On a side note: be careful with the moss. It can be dangerous if they swallow it because it will lead to impaction. It's fine to have in the tank if you feed your little guy/girl in a separate container.

With regards to the crickets, you might want to stick with small or medium ones for now. I can't really tell your pac's size from the pictures but it looks young still. In general, pacmans will eat about anything that fits in their mouth. I've also heard of the rule-of-thumb that the crickets length should be about the distance between the pacman's eyes. Good luck!

I've never actually been bitten. We've always talked to Grif alot. He knows our voices and he'll even turn towards us when we talk. He really likes singing too. Although if I get too off-key he hunches his shoulders and hops away. ;-)

Just to answer that question. When I had a young male, he bit me afew times when he was mad, or when he thought my finger was food. I doesn't hurt at all, but I have to admit, it can be somewhat startling. As long as you don't wiggle your finger in front of your Pacman Frog, it isn't likely to bite you. I always kind of laughed it off.

An older Pacman Frog bite isn't great, though. Older Pacman Frogs will develope an odontoid (tooth) in the center of it's mouth that is pretty sharp (so I've heard). I have heard people say that if adults bite they can hang on like anoles (green yard lizards). I wouldn't worry about that at all, it's just fyi.

This is true. I have actually heard that the bite from an adult Pacman or African Bullfrog is quite painful. Especially if they are large strong adulds. They can even make you bleed. They have Ridges on the upper jaw which are sharp. Kind of like a bunch of serrations and they do develope a tusk like protrusion on the center of the lower jaw which is quite sharp. As long as you do what Meetree said such as not making your finger look like a worm in front of the frogs mouth or make it angry you shouldnt have to worry about a bite taking place. if you are gentle with you Pac and it gets used to you and your hands it probably will never bite you. there is always a chance, but more than likely any bite may be accidental.

I would guess its like a medium sized snake bite for the adults?
