    Default Horizontal setup question

I am thinking of using a 20 or 30 tall and leaving it in the horizontal position to maximize both vertical and horizontal space. I am thinking I will just cover with a glass top, no ventilation. Are there any major pitfalls to using a regular aquarium in a horizontal setup?

    Thanks

No problem at all with what you described. That's why the Petco $1 sale is so popular with us here on the forum. The lack of ventilation wont be a problem for dart frogs but some of your plants may prefer a little more air flow. So stick with the ones that wont care. What kind of frogs are you getting.

What kind of frogs are you keeping? I have my azureus pair in a 29 gallon, with normal orientation.

The Petco sale is my inspiration I don't want to be restricted on my plant choices I did see the conversion kits with the small screen in them at Jungle Box. My thought was that with the screen on top it might lose more humidity compared to the verticals with front facing screen. Idk if that is even a valid concern???
I haven't decided on frogs yet. Trying to nail down plans for the viv right now. I like some of the tincs and ranitomeyas. I really want the imitators, but I've read different opinions on whether they are good frogs for beginners or not...mostly due to size I guess-both theirs and the feeder insects. I'm sure that will be my next question, but I will research a bit more first so I can address any specific concerns I have. I have a reptile show near me that I am going to check out as well. I have seen tincs at my LFS, but I've never seen the thumbs.

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks, the pic is lemur leaf frogs...

Anway, I would go with tincs as a first dart. Azureus were my first. Large, hardy and very interesting. They also, like most tincs, appreciate floor space vs. height.

Imitators are fairly easy, but I 'd go with something larger as a first dart.
