    Captive Wildlife Licenses & Permits

Have fun fishing thru that website. From what I can tell Class III is anything not listed on another list.

You need it because this is an invasive species that is not native to the US. They are therefore illegal to keep as pets.

On the website Lacibeth linked to, Cubans seem to fall under the species not requiring a permit, since they're not endangered, threatened, nor listed on any of the other lists. Technically they are invasive, but based on these lists, FL seems to have decided that the cat's already out of the bag.

Introduced or not, it is against the law to keep them as pets.
Watching FrogTV because it is better when someone else has to maintain the enclosure!

Not according to the official FL FWS website.

Outside of FL, I've never needed any special paperwork for them, but the survival rate for my research is basically zero.

I live in Florida and own three Cubans. the only thing I've ever heard or read about them being illegal is that it is illegal to catch one and then release it. Once you've got your hands on it you're NOT supposed to let it go. You're supposed to humanely euthanize it.
Which is why I've got three. Because instead of euthanizing them I keep them.

I did hear (from Tommyboy on FF) that you have to have a license to transport or ship them out of state. Even to state where they would not be able to survive in the wild.
