Just wonderig how long it takes White's to grow to full size? Mine are tiny, not even an inch but can't WAIT for them to be big 'n' chunkyThey eat 2-3 small crickets a night (witnessed it last night for the first time! Was so excited!!), that sound ok?
Hi Katie, I know they reach adult hood in 1-2 years and they are on average 10cm but have been known to get to 15cm. As for feeding I'm not sure as unfortunately I don't own one. I do know that you have to watch their weight as they do tend to get over weight, but as your wee Darlings (Herbie & Pip) are so young, I imagine won't have to worry about that for now as they are growing.I know with my frogs that a variety in their food is good for them. It's fun watching them eat, you aren't alone when you say you get up in the night to watch them.![]()
I'd second that, feed them as much as they'll eat at that size and dust the crickets with an amphibian friendly calicium/vitamin powder once/twice a week to keep them healthy!
Also if you fancy feeding them by hand the occassional wax worm will go down a treat!

I know they get fat if overfed, but thought that they'd eat more while they're growing upHaha @ Ebony, I've even started sleeptalking about them.... they must really be on my mind! It's like having a baby!
I'd LOVE to hand feed them, thought maybe they're too small for waxworms at the mo? I'm going to get some fruitflies today, see how they go down.... Yummy!
Don't be sorry - we're here to help.

Thank you John! Believe me, I have SO many questions! Some I think I can work out myself, others I have to post on here about! I must say I'm happy to have found this site! No one else I know appreciates my 'hobby', apart from my 10yr old daughterEveryone thinks I'm a bit of a geek!! lol

My daughter told me today that she wants to be an equine scientist..... last week she wanted be a teacher, so who knows? I quite like being a frog-geek to be honest!![]()
Hey Katie, I know what you mean, I have a 11 & 12 yr old. My kids and I talk about starting a Frog sanctuary and how we are going to keep the Frogs safe. The way things are going well be lucky to have Frogs at all soon. Its only dream talking but who knows what the future brings.
Katie don't be shy ask all your questions (preferably frog or toad related) we will probably be able to answer most of them.
Yay there are other female frog lovers!I'm glad we're not as scarce as I thought. (Though I don't think many people of either gender think frogs AND crickets are cute. Ah well. I assume if you want a frog you wouldn't think their prey is cute or else you'd hate the predator right?)
According to the person I bought mine from, mine is only a year old and it's still pretty big. (I'd say adult sized)
Nah crickets are kind of disgusting.
That all depends on how you cook them. Cricket marinara over pasta isn't too bad. Or how about cricket scampi? Of course everything is delicious when deep fried and served up with a side order of onion rings.![]()
Mmmmmm Kurt! You're making me hungryApparantly, fried crickets taste a bit nutty... Wouldn't want to find out for myself though!
Crystal, I'm also surprised to find so many female frog fans on here. Most of the girls I know think I'm weird for liking frogs, but I think they're amazing! I'm even starting to appreciate crickets... I was dusting them and feeding them last night and I felt a bit sorry for them........!!![]()
Hehe, you know things are bad when you feel sorry for the crickets.

Only if your pity for the crickets outweighs your pity for the frog. My deal with them is: I let them live and grow and mate and eat nutritious food while living off of my power bill increasing heat lamp... and I get to kill some of them by way of gutloading them for 2 days and sacrificing them to an amphibian.
Yeah, I s'pose it's not really a bad way to go.....![]()
Hi Chrystal,Katie. It's like that with my Locust. I do find it hard to feed them, especially the adults who have given me baby's. You do sort of get attached but I love my frogs more. I find it hard when I have visitors that just turn up and i haven't had time to take my insects to another room. This Forum is awesome, as theirs not many like me here in NZ.
