I just recently bought 2 new FBTs. They seemed to have been doing fine until I noticed they were very skinny. They eat just fine but they seem to rapidly lose weight. I assume they have a parasite.
Under the health page on this site, it says:
"Does eat, loses weight, listless.
Parasites in intestines, “Worms”
Treat with FENBENDAZOLE (PANACUR) 25mg/kg of bodyweight. Dissolve and drop on frogs’ back once a day for at least 10 days. Or dust the food items for 3 consecutive days."
So I went on amazon to purchase this medicine but the only thing it says is "Dogs only". Its The same company he refers above (Panacur), but im not sure if its safe. I cant find any others so hopefully this is ok?
Also what gram size do you think i should purchase? I need it for at least 2 toads and I dont mind if there is extra.
Thanks you for all your help!
You can use the dog medication. Frankly it's not very exact, but these medications are not very toxic, so if you are a bit wide on the dosage it shouldn't harm the toads. Regarding the gram size, I would get the smallest package. You'll likely still have way more than you need though.
Remember that it's no good just treating the toads if the terrarium isn't sanitized as well.

Alright thanks!
Hi, John. I am having the exact same trouble and wanted to get some Panacur C also. If I wanted to treat my viv, which is all 5" water with river rocks and plants for the toads, but no soil. How would I treat it? Also, I have a betta and 2 catfish in there. Will putting the dewormer in the water hurt them?
Thanks so much.
