Ventilation... Do I have enough?

Hi guys this might be a silly question, but i was wondering if i had enough ventilation.

basically the reason why i was asking is because my glass is always fogged up (not all the glass, but a good percentage of it), i do have a small water feature in there, so is this just due to the humidity, or do i need to add more ventilation, i do have some, but i can add more if need be

Pictures would be good. I never experienced fogged glass in any of my setups, so tentatively, I would say you should have more ventilation, but a visual of your setup would help us give better advice.

Fire-bellied toads don't need very high humidity because they spend a lot of time in the water, so you shouldn't need to restrict the ventilation on the tank.

cheers for the reply guys, i haven't purposefully tried to restrict ventilation, but with the type of hooded tank i have ventilation is an issue, i have added ventilation holes into the lid, but i was thinking maybe i need to cut holes into it and cover it with mesh.

or just add a mesh lid and use a separate lighting unit

I think if you get a screen lid and put the light on top the fogginess will go away and the air will better circulate. Just a thought

i think thats going to be best isn't it, they have only been in there like this for two days, this will not harm them will it

I doubt it will harm them. How much air gets in through the top? Do you have any pictures from above?

I agree, a screen lid is the best way to go.

my apologies for the diy job, but didn't want to use any sealants or glues that were not dedicated to be used with reptiles or amphibians

sorry i should have said this is the diy job i did last night to try and elevate the problem before i get a screen lid, prior to that i just had the tank lid that i had drilled holes into (really now i realise this was no where near enough). Even by just adding this screened off area, the problem has completely gone, but i have sent for a screen lid anyway

first off, what a fantastic set up, really nice

the reason why it was so dark is because, i took the picture at about 12 o'clock so the light was off, this is what it now looks like with extra ventilation, and a small rearrange

Wow, Tony, that's a beautiful tank--your fire bellies must be happy! Do you have your plants in small pots--it look like you have just gravel for substrate.
By the way--if you go with a screen top--make sure it's secure--here's my Motley trying to make a break! I put thin, round magnets, attached with aquarium safe silicon on the top 4 corners of my tank to hold the screen lid securely.

cheers guys i can relax now the problem is solved, wanna do best my for laurel and hardy

heatheranne, all i did was add extra ventilation, by replacing the lift up top, which previously i had added holes in to allow for ventilation, for the time being all i've done is replace that lid with some mesh, i had left over from a previous project... by the time i woke up this morning, problem solved

heyjude, what an excellent picture lol... they really do surprise you when they climb, mine never gone full 'tree frog' on me like that mind, kinda shimmied up the corner, but i think you should rename motley 'peter parker' lol

oh yeah, none of my plants are real, these are all artificial, didn't really know much about plants so didn't want to add anything that was potentially harmful to them
