I have previously kept tropical fish and fully aquatic frogs (African Dwarf Frogs) and am considering getting a semi or non-aquatic frog/s. I know nothing about them at the moment and would like to do some research before making a decision, so would really appreciate some ideas on what a good 'beginner' frog is. I would like something tropical/colourful ideally but realise this might not be the best idea for someone who has never kept frogs before, other than the ADFs. If people could give me some ideas with photos that would be great!! Also some idea of what they eat etc.
Hi and Welcome, I am also a beginner and i am starting with a Green Tree Frog. (GTF). i am feeding it crickets. Here are some pictures of my tank and frog and how i build it. http://www.frogforum.net/general-dis...ie-here-4.html

Your going to love being a frog parent if you chose wisely.
That article, Viper, is awesome! I've had red-bellies, which are fun and active, an American toad, who was funny and loved to eat, and currently have RETF's who are beautiful, but you have to stay up late to watch awake. I've enjoyed them all.
Everyone here is very helpful and you'll learn tons! Keep us posted.

Welcome to the forum. When i started frog keeping I started with white tree frogs . They are very hardy, forgiving, ,colorful cute ,and funny characters. I started with fish keeping 30 years ago my self and graduated to frogs, reptiles, and still keep fish.
I would agree that Whites tree frogs or green tree frogs make good starters. Whites are sturdy frogs and don't mind a lot of handling, but they need a much bigger cage and can be pretty messy though. We love both types at our house.
Also i nice choice are pacman frogs . Very simple setups and easy to take care.
