We have a pond in the backyard so hoping they'll be happy to habitate that otherwise we may return them to where they came from

Leanne, I may be wrong but if you plan on putting them in your pond then they may be better in there from Tadpoles. Were these Tadpoles from the wild to begin with or produced by a Breeder? I'm not sure about your rules but here (NZ) we are not to put captive frogs in the wild. You may want to find out first.

They are from the wild, I think they'll survive better in the tank as they'd be easy prey in the pond

Cool, I'm not familiar with the laws in Australia...obviously not as strict as here. Good luck with all your hungry little mouths. I raised 500 Tadpoles last year and it was so much fun. Enjoy
