It has been about a month since I first got Jack and so I decided to take some photographs for comparison's sake. Recall that he had a sort of eye infection when I first got him:
And to compare, here is what he looked like when I first got him:
(Notice the eye infection in the last image, which is almost completely gone now).
Hi there, could you get your photos any bigger? Lol!
That was fun trying to see the frog on a 9" screen! I couldn't find him among all the soil!
Anyway, glad to hear he's getting better, how did you treat the infection, or did it heal on it's own?
Kerry,
I tried to resize the images before posting, but for some reason it always wants to resize them back. I don't really know why it does that, and didn't really think it was too much of an issue on my 22" widescreen monitor, but can see that it would be quite annoying on a 9"... I don't suppose anyone knows how to resize the images so that the thumbnails look smaller, but can still be clicked on to give the original image?
As for the eye treatment, I had taken him to a vet a few days after I got him (this was mainly due in part to recommendations made by others here on the forum), and the vet gave some antibiotics to give to him. So I think that certainly helped the recovery process.
That's great! Good that he's better. The pictures are smaller now for me, so I can see all of Jack in one go!
He's very nice. I'm glad to see his eye has improved.
I got 2 Ornates in the last week. I wasn't going to get the second but the pet shop had him mislabelled and so a lot cheaper than he was supposed to be.

He looks a lot better. I love that color that he is mainly because of the lime green stripe. You took advantage of the opportunity good job John. I hope they end up happy.
That's how I got my ornate! I had given up on finding one and decided to just go with an albino cranwell's instead because I wasn't crazy about paying $35+ in shipping and didn't find a single frog (much less the ornate I was seeking) at the last herp show I went to ... so ... I've been scoping out local pet stores, since I just moved here, for horned frogs. One Petco had an albino cranwell, so I set up the tank and was going to go back to buy him and passed by a smaller store on the way there ... there I discovered that they had an albino cranwell, not quite as nice looking but $10 cheaper, so I decided to go with it. The worker was getting the albino ready for me when I decided heck, even though I already have a "green pacman frog," I might as well check out their green cranwell's up close -- he was in the tank next to the albino but was covered up. Lo and behold it was the beautiful ornate and I snatched him up, at a very reasonable $20 since he was mislabelled as a cranwell's
I don't know if $20 is generally good for ornates, but the cheapest I've found online was $25-35 and that wasn't even including shipping, so I was thrilled. I didn't intend on coming home with 2 new additions, but I did anyway.
Those trips are interesting. I have had that happen before.
That's the cheapest I've heard of for ornates. I got my mislabelled fellow for $30. They had the ornate label on the wrong frog (they'd mixed up the Cranwell ("Green Pacman") with the "Ornate") - the Ornate label said $45. I got my other Ornate last Sunday at the New England Herp Expo in New Hampshire for $39 (about normal for an Ornate).
So you did very well!
