Are there any insects (or anything) that I can put in my pixie enclosure to help break down waste material etc. I know I will have to spot clean but is there anything that can help the soil last longer?
There are dung beetles that feed upon feces, but the bullfrog would eat them long before they could eat the waste. They also lay their eggs in feces and their larva also feed upon it. Trouble is, where would you get dung beetles?
yea...my main reason for asking is I want my vivarium to be able to break down waste material kind of like how some people keep dart frogs. I realize I will have to pick out poop but I'd really like for my vivarium to actually be a vivarium. I've got plants and all that, drainage too.
What you keeping underneath him Zack? Wont springtails help clean?
Mabye..on the other forum they said not to bother and that they wouldn't do much. Im still going to look into them though.
The 10 gal below is my Solomon island ground boa, you can see her actually to the left of the tank on the wood.
In the tub to the right is my young blood python.
below those two cages is a tub with my adult ball python in it.
and the cage to the left of the rack has my coastalxjungle carpet python in it.
Kurt I'm also going to look into those beatles dont know if Il be able to find them anywhere but even if my frog did eat some they still might work(?) idk that why Im asking you all
