I use A Rena XP4 Filstar. It does a good job cleaning up after a big dump, or the tons...
Well, you don't need any gravel really. Speaking from experience, it will make cleaning up much more difficult, especially since you do not appear to have filtration of any kind.
What I did was...
I'm using a Rena/API filstar xp4 with no issues for roughly 7 gallons of water in a 40 gallon.
my advice would be go as big as you can.
Great stuff foam is great for making burrows, backgrounds and almost anything else for tarantula enclosures.
Here's a good thread with some detail. He also details his other creations in other...
If you have a strong enough filter, yes, it can mechanically filter out some of the substrate and poop. You probably won't be needing to do a 100% water change ever (depending on how large a water...
Sorry... I should really learn to check back more often.
It's a Fluval 305, though I replaced their crappy stock hoses with regular pvc ones.
It works well enough at clearing out the poops and...
I have a similar setup; the sub is about 7" deep.

My frog is an adult though.
There shouldn't be a problem as long as you replace the...
I never feed him in his enclosure anymore for the same reasons. Too many feeder refugees living in the enclosure. I've tried feeding him in a big bin too, but after he gets a few they will always...
Actually, tap water is just fine.
I'd actually be more worried about what's in prime than tap water. If it worries you, just simply let the water stand overnight before using it.
I've used water...
I love these guys.
I have a little girl myself. I love their attitude. What sub are you using? It looks good.
I got one of those pamphlets they have in store, and thought I'd post it here for a good laugh.
How many inaccuracies can you spot?:p

My big guy still does this. He has a relatively large and deep water area, and he'll dive down to the bottom and stay that way if you scare him enough. Maybe when he gets as big as me he won't be...
It's their version of a "do not disturb" sign. Rest assured that when they want to, they are more than capable to digging themselves out. It could simply be full, or hunkering down for a while, or it...
Told ya it's nothing to worry about :p
Am also a bit jealous you got to meet him.
You should have told him to join frog forum:)
For those interested, I'm fairly sure his recommended reading...
Don't worry too much about humidity.
As long as he has a full water dish, the sub can be relatively dry. At around that size they begin to develop the waxy outer layer on their exo that prevents...
It's not that serious of a problem.
If it were stuck on the booklungs, or something then maybe (and even then, I wouldn't count the spider out!), but this is clearly just a case of some of the...
IME, it just happens sometimes, regardless of humidity. At that size, I'd start to just keep the bottle cap of water in there and let it dry out completely.
It does look a bit too damp in there,...
Looks like a boy to me.
Looks like it's some left over molt on his abdomen; I've had that happen to some slings on occasion.
What you can do is keep it moist for a while, and try and grab it off with tweezers or something...
Mine had been underground since beginning of August. I did have him poop mid september, but he dove right back into the dirt, refusing food. He's created a little space for himself under there, and...
The largest canister filter that you can reasonably afford.
Anything less will be next to useless with the amount of waste these guys produce.
I can tell you.
You can soak it up in soapy water, then very carefully unfold the abdomen part and have a look on the inner surface of the abdomen to find a flap in between the first set of book...
You should be able to check Rosie's last molt for spermathecae. At that size, it will be readily visible.
Hypnotic is right, that is definitely a female.
As always, try to confirm with the next molt.
