Re: Hey! Newbie from North Carolina!

Sorry for late reply :( . Yes, you can sterilize soil by baking for 1 hour at 200F (same as branches and leaves) and letting slowly cool down in oven overnight :) .

Sticky: Re: CA & Vitamin Dusting Schedules

Yes, I use a tall plastic cup (32 oz. like those used to culture fruit flies). Add a bit of supplement and shake gently, then feed crickets to frogs :) .

Re: Humidity and tank cleaning questions

You don't replace them. When monthly cleaning enclosure can rinse them in 80F dechlorinated tap bath and reuse as needed :) .

Re: Swollen leg update, need advice!!

Good luck and let us know results. Right now I'm thinking probable internal infection, maybe caused by feeding accident injury.
  9. Re: How to tell if African Dwarf Frog has parasites?

If aquarium parameters are those required for frog and it eats and acts normal it should be fine. Just feed until belly starts to bulge out a bit and that should be good :) .

Re: Swollen leg update, need advice!!

So it's swollen more on left side . Does it moves like waves when you touch it? Is there any evidence of edema on right rear leg?
  13. Re: Hello from a possible furure aquatic frog owner!!

This is a good care sheet for them: http://www.frogforum.net/care-sheet-proposals/22561-care-sheet-african-dwarf-frog.html. Myself would add quality (Hikari, Sera, etc.) dry food to diet too; but...

Re: Swollen leg update, need advice!!

If the edema is localized around rear legs and light touch result in a wave like skin movement; it's probably Kidney/Lymph Heart damage from chronic exposure to low temps :( .

What medication are you using? Some are OK; but would not use copper based ones with frogs or any scaleless fish in tank  .

Only issue in there is the gaps in between large pebbles will let food and debris fall in and become hard to get at during water changes  .

Re: Real Leaves As A Cover.

You mean leaves as in those dry ones used in dart vivariums? If so; they won't hurt the frog. Get big strong magnolia leaves from one of forum sellers (Josh Frogs or NeHerp for example).
