My frogs like it right around 80. I'd say close to 80 during the day, 75 at night.

I kept a small male wood frog on a mostly super worm diet for about a year with no ill effects. I don't see why it would be much different for a gray. They die pretty quickly in their stomach acid,...
Hey guys, just wondering if any fellow horned frog enthusiasts are going to be visiting the Vegas reptile expo next weekend? I'll be vending for J.Mugleson's Exotics and would love to chat about...
pokemon :)
Here is the giant Palouse earthworm. If someone could culture these it would be a win for conservation (as their natural habit has been highly fragmented and transformed into farm land), and if they...
Yep, I'm from MN and for most of the state worms are technically invasive. Certain parts of the state are night crawler free and you are not allowed to fish with them there. They change forest under...
Oh the irony of the brand name Canadian Crawlers. Night crawlers are not native to the U.S./North America and are in fact European. So a Canadian night crawler is technically a European night crawler.
Wait...you feed them pacman food? Why would you do such a thing? I heard it was full of ash and kills your frogs! It's a Japanese fast frog food death scam!!
Hopefully you're picking up my sarcasm...
Armor plated roaches are good to feed to your frogs, but never ever feed them super worms, they are too intense for horned frog digestive systems to handle!
When I first purchased my Caatingas I got 3 out of 4 of them to start eating it right away, didn't even have to tap them on the face. Most of my cranwellies needed more persuasion than that.
Lol, compared to snakes you're moving at light speed with those morphs. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! Guess your instincts were right on this one Mike. Too bad the male didn't produce.
Thanks Grif, very informative post. I like the idea of a drainage layer! Now I'm thinking about adding a drainage layer in each tub of my fancy wal-mart rack system :) But really I should keep...
I wonder if sphagnum could be grown and used as a living substrate? That might be sweet.
Sometimes I wonder if keeping a completely sterile cage is even desirable. Letting them sit in their own filth is obviously a bad thing (red leg is no good), spot cleaning needs to be done and the...
bigapplauseHa ha, well to each his own. The molding/decomposing could be another benefit - visual cue that it needs changing!
I think it's time for some healthy debate :D. I propose that for tong fed (this distinction is important) horned frogs moss is superior to coco fiber and foam as a substrate. ar15
Four reasons:...
Once you lock in the breeding of a spider that lays 500+ eggs per sac, and have a high rate of success rearing the slings, prices are going to come down sooner or later, especially if everyone...
One person usually can't ruin the market with snakes, unless that person is producing so much that they flood it!
If you don't like tong feeding then dubias are probably not the roach for you. If you use coco fiber bedding they are a real pain to feed to your pacs. As soon as they hit the bedding they dig right...
Hey Timmy, how frequently have you been dusting your frog's food with calcium? I purchased a frog that was doing pretty much the same thing, started dusting its food a lot and it got its strength...
Thanks Mike, good to know that they are all growing normally. I got them back in the beginning of Sept. at the Vegas expo, so I guess I still have a few months to go to sex the females for sure.
Most outdoors stores sell worm farms, you should go check them out. Fishermen use them to grow their own worms to save money. They come with "worm food", it's a powder that you add to the substrate....
Hey everyone!
Got a question for the seasoned caatinga keepers out there. I was just wondering if caatinga females grow quicker than the males? I know this is usually the case with C. cranwelli,...
I agree with Grif, I have three albinos and each has his/her own individual appetite. One will eat everything, and consequently is several times larger than the others. Another will eat most things,...
