    You should see them increase in a week or two. I prefer using moist cocofiber to charcoal.

    In a terrarium you do not have to feed the spring tails. In cultures I usually feed them live yeast.

    night crawlers are tough to raise. I raise belgian earthworms and feed them vegetable scraps in canadian peat. If you want to raise worms do belgians or red wigglers.

    "Reverting" to flying is more often caused by mixing or wild ones getting in. I've bred fruit flies for over 30 years and rarely produce fliers.
