My pacman has been burrowed for a couple of weeks. He hasn't been interested in eating either. I uncovered him two weeks ago and he ate 1 nightcrawler then burrowed again somewhere else in the cage....
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am doing a research paper on the chytrid fungus and how it is affecting the amphibian population.
I have found a lot of articles on it...
Ok, I usually check on him a couple times a day. He was burrowed up to his eyes, so you could be right that he had some substrate or something caught in it.
Right now the temp is 79, but I have a hygrotherm and it keeps it on a cycle and I get it to 82 during the day. The humidity is right now is 80.
He seems to have his eyes open now and his pupils are...
I just checked on Blob today to feed him and he is burrowed with his eyes mostly closed, but he still reacts (like his eyes blink for a second and he moves) when you touch him. I've never seen him...
I just got a Zoo Med Hygrotherm for Christmas, and I have it set up (I think) correctly.
I just need it for the temperature. So I set the temperature I want my tank at, and it has been turning the...
That is what I needed to know. I will definitely go with the Hygrotherm then, I just wanted to make sure that it did actually turn the heat on and off at the temperatures I set it at.
Amazon has it...
I was looking into getting a thermostat to keep my temperatures in my tank from being too low or too high without having to keep adjusting it every day.
I was looking at the hygrotherm, but I am...
The other members will be able to help you out more than I can, they have more experience and knowledge of frogs than I do. But I would definitely be concerned about the redness/scuffing on the...
I'm not an expert and I haven't been keeping pacs for long, but I don't think they eat if they are full. My frog eats every 2-3 days, but I still offer him food. I would still wait for others...
Thanks!!!! frogsmile
So he could be sick or something? Should I contact the vet?
Thanks Grif and DV :)
I feel kind of stupid for being worried now lol. I didn't realize they changed color that dramatically, he was green and then suddenly he wasn't green. I guess my little guy...
Sorry for posting so many threads in one night!
I posted earlier about Blob not burrowing. When I was taking pictures to post on here of his tank for that post, I noticed he had some...
Thanks Lija! I feel much better.
Lol your frog sounds like royalty. He should have a crown!
I'm glad to know other people's frogs do the same thing and that yours are doing well. I am somewhat new to the frog keeping too (Blob is just over a year old) and I thought pacman frogs burrowed all...
Since I moved Blob into his new tank about 2 weeks ago, he isn't burrowing completely. He is basically just sitting in a concave hole in the substrate uncovered. I have about 3 inches of substrate...
Just to chime in, I was told by the vet that is ok to handle frogs with bare hands (she also said gloves too). Just rinse with dechlorinated water- no soap- and make sure you wash your hands really...
Thank you :)
My local pet stores don't have a good selection of plants, I will definitely check ebay.
That is a very elaborate background that your tank has and the tank I have right now is a 10...
That is an awesome set up, I bet your frog loves it!
I just got a new tank for Blob and it looks so plain and minimal compared to yours :/ I'm not even sure I'm doing my habitat right looking at...
Happy 1st birthday to Beefcake! frogsmile
Good:) Worms for dinner it is lol!
Oh ok. So I will continue with the night crawlers since you both think it is ok, I just bought them recently but I will definitely double check that they are all still alive now in the container at...
That is true, feeder insects and worms aren't expensive so throwing out a container isn't a loss for me. I'd rather do that than harm my little guy.
I did not know that about the worm containers...
