    Re: Playing or being agressive?

I don't know that frogs do dominance behaviors normally. (Not saying they don't, just that I don't know.) I suspect that it's more likely the female saw something moving and tried to eat it, even if...
  2. Re: White's Tree Frog Swollen Toe (picture of injured animal)

Updating in case anyone has similar experiences:

it turns out the vet's old x-ray machine wasn't clear. There hasn't been noticeable bone loss after all. Bonk got his toe amputated today. The...

Re: How smart are tree frogs?

Right, plus there are different species of tree frogs that might have somewhat different intelligence. Running off might indicate they're smart enough to get out someone comes to open the tank or it...
  4. Thrive Tropical Reptile Vertical Crescent Terrarium

I could use a terrarium I could move by myself. I'm considering this one, but I know from a video that when the doors open, there's a crack near the hinges that frogs can get out and also they might...

Re: Lost my boy today/Burial in terrarium?

Sadly, I suspect the garden or even a potted plant would be safer.
  6. White's Tree Frog Swollen Toe (picture of injured animal)

Bonk's been having trouble and I wasn't able to find anything exactly like what I saw with him online, so I'm just posting my experience. Maybe it'll help someone?

    He's about 9 now, eating...

    Re: Growth on frogs leg

Could be an infection, a parasite, or tumor, which isn't very helpful. I know it's late to reply, but it helps to know if their movement and eating is okay. How did the vet turn out?
  8. Re: What is this "glass bowl trick" I keep hearing about?

I use this! I wouldn't suggest an actual, clear glass bowl just in case the frogs try to get at the bugs through the walls of the bowl.

Re: red eye tree frogs sleep all day and night

I've seen a thread here suggesting that red-eyes may be sensitive to light at night and less likely to come out. Otherwise? See if they're eating normally or interested in insects at all. They may be...

Re: How many WTF would you get?

They do huddle together. I wouldn't get more than three, but that's just me.

    Re: Terrarium temp

I'm so glad this isn't anything out of the ordinary. Maybe you'll want to cool it off to the usual temperature now and warm it up again early if he went down early? He sounds like he's in good hands.

    Re: Terrarium temp

80 in the day and 70 at night might be okay. The exposure to cold might have triggered his hibernation. Generally, there's no reason to hibernate most amphibians unless you want to breed them....

    Re: Risking a live tank?

Here's an article that says many nematode infections cannot be permanently eliminated: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&catId=102919&id=9004567

    Risking a live tank?

Hey it's been a while and I've been thinking.

In the past my frogs have been treated for parasites (trematodes). At that time I took apart my live tank completely and switched to paper towels.

    Re: Cricket delivery and tips

So curbsite cricket pickup it is! I bought a bunch of little ones along with my normal order. Maybe I can keep them alive.

I think my problem may be airflow and the humidity in my house. Even if I...

    Cricket delivery and tips

I was looking to get crickets delivered, but got overwhelmed by the number of options. Do you have any advice for places that ship small numbers of crickets affordably?

    Also, I have always...

Re: Toads and frogs humudity level control

I wouldn't recommend housing them together because some toads have more toxins than frogs and if they sit on each other for long over a period of time there's a chance one could make the other sick....

Re: New bump on my Dumpy?

It might be an abrasion from something in the tank. That's a best case thing and it kind of looks like a scrape or cut. Some parasitic worms leave bumps and maybe either they're not all out yet or...
