I was just about to say that Bill...anyway lets get back to dartfrog business:)! Sorry about almost hijacking your thread Colleen :P
it's fine, i'm just waiting for the Great Stuff to cure..
That might take a while...
Colleen,
Looks good so far. As I am sure you have read already patience with spray foam will make the difference between a well cured well attached background and a nasty mess they you have to scrape off so you can try again.
As bill said the balloon trick is super easy and makes the placement of pots so much easier. If you want to just sprayfoam a pot into the background you can put a small balloon in the pot and blow it up. This will keep the foam from expanding into your pot :)
yes i am going to let it cure for a while. i am impatient, but i know i'll ruin it if i don't give it enough time. it's ok, i don't have frogs yet, so i have plenty of time.
Lol let it cure for at least 24 hours. It sucks and it will drive you crazy but it really is best. It will SEEM cured before then, but it's not. a little secret .... Spray foam is a liar!
my GS cave. Holy Expansion. well i might want to cut it down a bit. it's a bit bulky, to say the least. i have cut a few flat areas into the GS background, so the frogs can sit on them if they choose. also made 2 niches for my airplants that are not here yet. Got my Package from Josh's frogs today! exciting. Still have stuff on the way, but can't use it yet, anyway.

Is that a cave for the frogs to go in? Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build :)
Yes it is, but i think i might have made it too low, bc i have to add about 6 inches of substrate. so i may end up having to trim the cave entrance way up, or just turning it into a mini tree stump. i got the cup out, and just letting it set up more.
ok so painting on black silicone is not as fun as it sounds. i was paranoid it was going to dry out before i got the cocoa fiber on it.

And now here is something that is NOT fun. Forgetting to use the substrate barrier before dumping a bag of ABG ontop of the leca. I picked thru and sorted for a good hour before i called it good, and put the barrier fabric down, added the ABG. At Josh's frog's site, it told me to get 2 bags, but not sure it looks deep enough. i guess when i get springtail culture, sphagnum and leaves it should be deep enough? i hope so.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...ps59e6d588.jpg sorry about the glass reflecting
Looking great! Maybe you'll get to use the cave after all? Looks like it won't be covered
yeah still have to add leaf litter and sphagnum moss, but i did cut the opening a bit high just to be on the safe side.
It looks great! Usually your ABG mix should be at least 3 inches deep, so you may need to order another bag, because it looks more like 2 inches in the picture. I'm not expert though, so I could be wrong. :)
got my LED light today but since my tank cover is not here yet, i stuck it over the cave side just to get a good shot. Still waiting on packages.

Looks great so far :)
thank you. i know it's very simple but that is how i want it. i will put the plants in as soon as i get my other stuff and figure out a layout i like. i hate waiting for packages!! Did i mention i am not a patient person? LOL
You? Impatient? I would have had no idea. I still can't start mine. I don't have the tank! I have to wait two weeks:(, the reptile expo:(! But anyway its looking nice. What brand of LED light did you buy? I still don't know which light is best
I went searching for LEDs yesterday and found nothing under $100 :nightmare: they must be less expensive
down there. lol, everything is more expensive in the great white north. :)
