Hi, this has probably been asked hundred times but can a 12x12x18 exo terra viverium house a breeding pair of D.Auratus ?
I wouldn't, giving 2 primarily terrestrial frogs a square foot to live in will be very stressful for them. A pair would do good in an 18x18x18 tank (you could go 24 high if you wanted for plants and such, but the 18 be should be perfect.
Do the D.Auratus breed best in pairs or groups? If i would be putting 4 i would need a really big tank right?
Auratus will do fine in pairs or groups. If you are buying sexed frogs than a pair would work, but if you plan to buy juveniles than you will want to buy a small group to help ensure you get a mix of males and females. I would say 4-5 Auratus would do well in a 24wx18d foot print tank. Auratus will not climb as much and will benefit from more horizontal space.
I have my auratus group (4) in an 18.18.24H exo. As Paul mentioned, the height wasted.
They will be moving at me point an 18 cube.
BUT ... I have t pick the right time ? ... they don't like their stuff messed with.
