Is this fungus or minerals?

This white stuff was on my aquarium right above where there is usually water... I've seen this stuff on my aquariums from when I had tadpoles before, right above where the water usually is there too. (making me think it is probably minerals from the water near the surface evaporating and thus lowering the water level.) Also disinfectant wipes do nothing.

Figured I should check just to be sure. (If it is mineral deposits is it safe to leave them? They are hard to clean off and it is hard to avoid considering I can't leave distilled water in the bottom of the tank for the frog to soak in.)

i have no idea what that is, have you tried scrubbing with vinegar water?

Looks like calcium, is there usually an airstone in the water on that side? Try using a razor blade to scrape it off.

:eek: A razor blade? My aquarium didn't even survive arriving the first time. There was broken glass the first time I tried to buy it so I had to send it back and order a new one, and then they put fragile stickers all over the thing. (English Translation: I would but I am afraid I would break it.)

Also razor blades lay on my list of irrational fears due to a strange event I won't get into.

Is the calcium dangerous? (Calcium sounds like a good thing to me considering I have to dust the crickets with it for my frog...)

It won't hurt anything but looks bad and is hard to remove. You probably have hard water. Try mixing distilled water with your water 50/50 and see if it gets better.

Try a product like C-L-R or Lime A Way and try to dissolve it.

If you use CLR, rinse thoroughly! You can also rub it down with vinegar.
