Unexpected frogs!!!

Rate this Entry
Hi everyone! I'm currently raising striped mud turtles and I've never had an issue untill this year; being slow swimmers and clumsy this year when I fed them tadpoles two were sneaky and I now own two baby tree frogs so I decide to keep, one appears to be a Cuban the other is green and they are both approximately 2 cm long (the green is a little bigger but the Cuban had it's tail longer) and what am I supposed to feed them, I tried meal worms and the green ate one but it seems like it was way too big O.o, crickets small ones were also too big but the crickets get snatched by the turtles too quick (also once the frogs are big enough my turtles which will only b 4 inches full grown will else them alone but they don't swim in the danger zone so frogs are safe!)

At many pet stores you can get flightless fruit fly kits. That may help until they can eat small crickets. It can help to get a vitamin and calcium supplement and dust the bugs if you don't already. You might want to put the frogs in a separate container for a while if the turtles keep eating their food.

If you live in the US, it's probably illegal to return the Cuban to the wild since they're considered invasive, by the way. Generally mixing frog species is frowned on because different species have different levels of toxins in their skin and over time one can poison another. Personally I don't think that that would have any bad effects over the short term though.

Finally, it's easier to see posts on the forum rather than those in the "blogs" section. You might get more answers posting that way. I hope your frogs and turtles do well.
