Modern demand responsive transit operations require the use of paratransit software for trip reservations, scheduling/dispatching, financial management and reporting. As a system grows, the demands for information also grow and become more complex. When this happens, existing software programs may become inadequate. In order to maintain the level of service and the timely submission of reports, system managers seek out solutions. One solution that is often considered is the purchase of new software to aid in system operation. The search for new software can be a time-consuming, sometimes confusing process.


The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 requires public transit entities such as NCTD to provide complementary paratransit service, or equivalent public 6 LIFT Paratransit Service Rider’s Guide transportation, to individuals with disabilities who cannot board, ride, or navigate accessible fixed route bus or train service because of their disabilities. Individuals whose disabilities prevent them from using a NCTD lift-equipped bus or the accessible rail system may be eligible for the LIFT paratransit service.
