I have 2 American toads who I think are ready to breed. The female is chubby, eats a lot, and shows signs of egg carrying. The male sings to her very often and always hugs my fingers when I pick him up. They have gotten together about 5 times within the past 2 weeks(the first time 6 days went by nothing happened, the second time 3 days went by nothing happened, and from there on i have been separating them safely), but the female isn't laying her eggs. Should I separate the male away from her in a different tank? Could she be sick and bloated? How can i get her to lay her eggs?
