Great advice, friendly people, and lots of frogs!
Here are my CA/D3 dusting schedules to help out those that are new to frog husbandry. Since baby, juvenile, and adult frogs have different needs according to their growth stage; several schedules are provided. Some experienced members do use one additional CA/D3 dusting per week and if you want to follow that rotation will have to modify the information provided. This schedule is provided as a guide. Feel free to move things a bit in order to accommodate your work, study, or life commitments ...
John you sir are asking all the right questions and I can tell you it is a breath of fresh air for us to see someone so invested in making the tank right the first time. Bill taught me much of what I know about tanks and is a great person and a great tool to use to help guide you in making good choices. On my 40b vertical tank (it houses 4 Azureus) we use a standard aquarium top on it. No ventilation what so ever. Keeping the humidity around 90% isn't as hard as it seems. It does generate ...
Well, I don't know about all that "expert" talk lol Yes, for darts, a humidity of 90+% is required. Temps in the mid to lower 70's. You should never allow them to go over 80. That's a death knell for darts. Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world ~ Nelson Mandela

I used a piece of pond filter sponge I had laying around. The sponge doesn't need to be thick, it just needs to prevent the tubing from clogging in case any substrate falls below the protective layer. Replacing it? Good question. No clue. It won't break down, so that's not a concern. I check it periodically to see if anything is growing on it, which is doubtful since it gets no light. And the water gets filtered through the substrate, so I would guess a REALLY long time lol
