Fantastic job, as always . Johnny, can you tell us what colours you used to paint this and in what order please? I'm going for that same colour scheme.

Awesome. What primer do you use?
  4. SludgeMunkey
Since the final coat of "stone" on this one was a layer of acrylic plaster of paris, no primer was used. I did however, mix a bit of black paint in with the very final coat of p.o.p.

Ah, so with acrylic fortifier the primer's not needed?
  6. SludgeMunkey
I feel it is optional. In a dry set up, I would definitely use a water based spray primer, but for a wet set up like this one (big waterfall in the corner) I opted for the extra waterproofing of a good coat of acrylic paint directly bonded to the rough surface. While it is not porous when the fortifier is used, acrylic paints can occasionally peel off of primered wet surfaces with age. By skipping the primer, the paint bonds directly to the fortifier making a permanent durable bond. I use primers in dry enclosures to save paint...LOL

How much black do you add to the mix?

I pull a Jackson Pollock and wing it- just enough to make it grey. I only mix up about a liter at a time, so I would estimate about 10-20mL of paint per batch, perhaps more.

    OK thanks.
