A Northern Leopard Frog, Rana pipiens, (I believe). Found in my yard, put in a mini aquarium for a few photos. Not sure if it would be improved by cloning out the flecks in the water or not. First try with a 'mini studio' for a wild frog.

Very well done. I love the photo. I'd clone out the flecks if I were you. Can you tell us how you made the background black like that please?

Thanks John! I just uploaded an edited version. Black background was easy here, small aquarium in the doorway of a north opening shed. This way it's rather dark inside but the frog still has some light on it from the sky (so I'm not flashing him in the dark!). Exposure was 1/125s, f/8, iso200, putting the ambient on the frog about 4 stops under exposed (virtually non-existant for the image), ambient on the background much lower so it's right black as long as nothing shiny/reflective is in view of the camera. Lighting was a 5"x7" softbox to the right and a bare flash fired through a sheet of parchment paper on the left of the tank. A sheet of black velvet for a background would allow for a more forgiving choice of location.
