I chose homemade mix, but not really... maybe there should be a choice for other.

Unless the stones are larger than 4.5 inches...they are technically gravel...

Good point though...I will beg a moderator to modify the gravel choice to Stone: gravel, river rock, slate, etc.

Didn't realize that...so I guess I use gravel. The stones are about 3 in. in size or larger (about the same size as the frogs)

Hi, I use a layer of small rocks, leaving a pond area, then Sphagnam Moss on the top. That way the water level is just in the rocks and the plants and moss stay nice and healthy. It grows really well in that situation as well.

I tried that same thing a few weeks ago, but my moss turned yellow. Maybe the water level was too high? I ended up throwing out the moss and returning to large "gravel". I used moss to try and raise the humity, but I noticed it didn't make too much difference.

Maybe the water level was too high, or maybe it could be the temp? My tanks get partial sun during the day, but you have to be very careful how much sun your tank gets (as you would know). Im lucky as I have a perfact place that I keep my frogs so the sun hits only part of the tank. My frogs seem to know when the suns coming as they sit ready and when the sun goes they move.

I use top soil and have live moss basically covering the entire tank floor.

I use sphagnum for terretrial types and paper towel for the arboreals. The fire-bellied are in about an inch or so of water with a floating styroform tray to climb out on. Things for the most part are kept real simple.

I generally use a combination of about 3/6 coir, 2/6 eco potting soil and 1/6 sand. I will also through in leaf litter once in a while.

I use potting compost for my frog, he is a terrestrial frog and needs only a water dish. I also have quite a few plants growing in the tank along with earthworms in the soil to help keep it fresh.
