Question about bulbs for night time

Exo-terra's blue night bulbs generate quite a good amount of heat, at least the 50 watters. They produce some light, but not a lot. The lights is also supposed to be non-disturbing, with its blue/purpleish colour. It's not optimal for viewing the frogs, since it's not that much light and the colour disorts the colour of the frogs, but it's a goos way to produce heat. Add a dimmer as well and you can fine-tune very well!

I use the red bulbs and they are great for night viewing. I use 25 watt for summer and 40 to 60 watt for winter

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but what is a good nocturnal viewing bulb if you DONT need the heat?

you can get a 15 watt red aquarium bulb. or you can raise the higher watt bulbs up 6 inches or so over the top to view without much heat

Thanks, I always want to watch what she's up to at night because I hear her hopping around, but I don't want to disturb her!

Cheri and some other people here recommended blue LED for nighttime viewing. I have not tried it myself, but it seems good. It produce little to no heat as well.
