Default My new Xanthic Red Eyed Tree Frog

Here is a picture of Emerson, my new Xanthic Red eye.. He is about an inch. I just got him and have him by himself in a one gallon tank to monitor his food intake. He seems kind of thin to me so I'm watching him closely. I'm afraid in a larger tank he would have trouble finding food and starve. He will eventually go in my Med Exo Terra with Waldo, my Red Eyed Tree Frog. I feed Waldo crickets in a dish so I know exactly what and when he eats but I'm afraid he'd intimidate Emerson due to the size difference. Waldo isn't huge but he is definately bigger. What do you guys think?

Wow, such a surprise for me. Never seen one before. If you think he is a little thin try feeding waxworms. You may have to order them online. Many stores in my area do not carry fruit flys, wax worms, etc. Mealworms and crickets is all I get here. Where did you get this frog?

He is a Xanthic tree frog which is a color morph of the Red Eyed Tree Frog. I got him from Reptiles Etcetera at 316-871-8729. They only have one left as of three days ago.

What a coincidence! My green and black D. auratus came from the same place. I'm hoping to see the vendor at the Tulsa Reptile Expo again next month. Glad to meet you here on the forum.

He seems ok to me. Also I would let him grow a little before placing him in with your older red-eye. Thanks for sharing your frog with us.

Nice to meet you as well. I am looking at getting an Albino Red Eye from Mike at Rain Forest Junkys. He said he should have some ready to go in a couple of months. So in my tank I'll have the standard Red Eye, the Xanthic, and the Albino. They should make an interesting trio.

Here is a new picture of Emerson. He's been in quarantine for a week and a half and I've been feeding him as much as he'd like. He finally is looking like I want. He's eating well and is really active. Does he really need to stay by himself for 30 days? He looks perfectly fine and shows no signs of illnes.

The thirty day period is just make sure things are ok. If nothing goes wrong during that time, then it should be safe to move him in with the old one.
