R.I.P.

My original red-eyed leaf frog, Agalychnis callidryas died last night after a long bought with some sort of infection. This frog was kind of famous as he had been photographed for a book and so now he will be imortalized in that book.

He had been under a vet's care. The vet was unsure of what is was that he had and so he was treated with an antibiotic he thought might work. Sadly, I think all it did was slow down the progress of the disease. On a plus note, it seems that this disease is not contagious as it's room mate appears to be totally unaffected by it.

Currently I am designing/building a rain chamber to breed red-eyes. It was going to be for four occupants, but I guess it will have to be for three.

Sorry for your loss Kurt. He was a beautiful frog. How old was he when he died?

Thanks. He was an adult when I got him and I got him in fall of 2006, so he was at least two years old.

. I don't know if you name any of your frogs(I name all of mine), but if you do, you should name one of the froglets after the one you lost. That's a very beautiful frog, and a great picture.

Sorry, it's just a quirk of my personality. My little cousins are the ones that come up with most of the names. Again, very sorry for your loss Kurt

Thanks. There is about 20 or so tadpoles swimming around in the rain chamber as of today. Not all eggs hatched yet, so there should be more soon.
