Hiding frog cause for anxiety My monkey tree frog has disappeared somewhere in the substrate. At least I hope that's where it is. This occurred a week ago and then later I found it on it's favorite leaf. Scares the dickens out of me and I a;waus fear any of my critters may have somehow found an escape route. Is hiding a normal thing for these little frogs?

Re: Hiding frog cause for anxiety I used to be notorious for ripping apart my cages if I couldn't find my frogs. If he continues to do it, check the conditions in the tank, i.e. the humidity, temperature, etc. If everything appears normal and he continues to eat, then don't worry too much. I know Phyllomedusa can deal with drier temperatures, but it could be humidity driving the frog to burrow down into the presumably moister soil.

Re: Hiding frog cause for anxiety Don't. Alex got bit by a mosquito and had to have his leg amputated because of it. Alex used to run in the Boston Marathon every spring, but can no longer do so. Sure he got a lot of good photos and saw some cool stuff, but is that worth losing a leg for? I think so.Originally Posted by Tropicok
The preceding was a total embellishment, meant to be humorous. Alex has both of his legs. No animals were hurt in the making of this joke. This joke is not available in all 50 states, sorry Tennessee.
