New red eyed tree frog owner

Hello . An adult Red-Eyed Leaf Frog will usually eat approx. 2 to 3 crickets per night unless they sleep through the night. Change the substrate every 4 to 6 weeks, unless you create a false bottom. Change the substrate during the day while she sleeps.

Any pic yet? Any croaks? I'm thinking you may have a female with her size .

Thank you so much for the information! I think you might be right about her being a girl, she is pretty big and I haven't heard her make any noise at all! I've taken quite a few pictures but I cant figured out how to upload them from my iPad onto here. If she is actually a girl I might have to change her name, I've been calling her Wally (short for Wally the Green Monster".

She seems to be doing really well! She sleeps all day and gets up around the time I go to bed. She ate all of her crickets again last night!

I have also been reading that red eyes are social frogs, and I'm currently keeping Wally by herself. Do you think she will be ok or should I look into getting a friend for her?

They dont need a friend but if one is sleeping or hiding you'll have another one to watch. Sometimes they'll interact but probably not if both are girls.

Thanks so much for these links! I'd seen the first one but not the second one, which has some really helpful stuff!
Wally has been doing really well after about a week! He sleeps pretty much all day but I've had to get up at 4:45 the past few days so I've been able to catch him while he is still awake

Ive been having some trouble with his moss growing something that looks like mold (I just posted something about this in the terrarium section) but other than that things have been great!

Don't forget to rinse off all dirt and fertilizers from the plants. Be sure to rinse in dechlorinated water after the regular rinse.

It is likely due to the high humidity. You can get springtails. They like to eat mold and are like little house cleaners for a vivarium. I found som at joshsfrogs.com.

hi there -- i would definatley look into getting another tree frog. after seeing the way mine interact at night and sleep huddled together during the day, its seems that they like to be in the company of other frogs. I have also read on multiple websites that they are highly social animals.
