White's Tree Frog, the Dumpy Tree Frog, or if you're Australian, the Green Tree Frog, is the most popular pet tree frog in the world. The species, Litoria caerulea, comes from Australia and Indonesia, but has been introduced to places as far away as Florida in the USA. Kurt Kunze's care article is a treat for anyone interested in keeping this wonderful frog as a pet. |

| Re: White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea You know, I never considered a minimum or maximum amount of time one can hold a frog, as I never held a frog longer than a few minutes. Personally, I don't hold it any longer than I have to. Remember, amphibians are not pets that should be held, and this includes White's treefrogs, Litoria caerulea. They may tolerate handling more so than other frogs, but you should keep it to a minimum. I would not exceed more than five minutes of contact time. |

| Re: White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea The ph level is testing at 7.8, is this too high? How can I lower it to 6.8? I used tap water conditioned with anti-chlorine drops and it cycles through a duatto filter. |

| Re: White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea remeber how frogs drink they dont drink like repitles or us. they dont drink through there months they drink through there skin. so when you hold your frog for a long periods of time the salt in your skin well go through the frogs skin and it could kill or even get the frog sick so if i were you i wouldnt hold the frog no more then couple minutes. if it well be a long periods of time put the frog in another tank. |

| Re: White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea Sometimes I take Bluebell for a brief outing in the yard on a nice day, and I carry a water mister bottle so that way his skin stays moist and that also makes a barrier of water so hopefully my skin oils don't get on him (I also wash and rinse my hands well before and after). He seems to enjoy climbing on my arm or jumping around, like onto the tree or grass, and I don't put any chemicals on my yard or trees. I watch the temperature and don't have him out too long. |

| Re: White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea Can anyone help me. I got a couple of Tree Frogs a few weeks ago and at first both were doing well, then one took a nose dive. It doesn't eat, it just stays in a corner of the tank, I spray with water and a vitamin spray to keep it going, but he won't eat. I have seperated him out in another tank and he still has not gone cricket hunting, I have force fed him some wax worms and crickets a few times. Actually, a couple days after a force feeding I placed him in a seperate tank and he ate a few crickets, when I tried it again he refused to eat. I have noticed spots on his skin are turning a little purple, just on the front of his head, it doesn't seem to have any texture to it, just looks like the skin is discoloring, could this be the cause of him not wanting to eat, I just worry I do not want to keep force feeding him and stress out any further. |

My brother has got some Whites' tree frogs, and one of them got really unwell from swallowing some of the sphagnum moss, the poor little fellow was actually trying to poop it out. Has anyone else had this or is it just a freak accident or a really stupid frog? The frog did get better eventually, but we just don't want it to happen again. |
