I would get a blue light that simulates the moonlight. It's still hard to see, but it'll help.

Can toads see red light? Has it ever been confirmed whether or not toads are disturbed by red light? Sometimes I want to peek at them at night, but not scare them back under cover. If I put a clear red piece of plastic over a small flashlight, would the light bother them?

Re: Can toads see red light? They appear to not take much notice of red light. I think they can still see it though. I don't think it would disturb them.

Re: Can toads see red light? Yes, they can definitely see red light, along with most other colors. In general, color vision is the norm in animals, only lost or partially lost in nocturnal or burrowing species.
Re: Can toads see red light? Thanks for the responses. Hopefully, once they get bigger they won't feel the need to hide 100% of the time in the day, and watching them at night won't really be something I need to do.
