I recently purchased a WTF from a pet store near me just over a week ago, and she is almost always brown. I turned on her lights this morning and she was in her water dish and was a nice blue-ish green. Why is her color changing from brown the green during the night? How can I get her to stay green all the time?
They change color... It may have to do with stress but as far as I know it is just somewhat random... Mine change color all the time with no changes to anything...
Have fun with the hobby!

They do change colors fairly randomly and it doesn't seem to hurt them. My untested theory is they turn brown when they have a lot of blood under their skin. Green plus red is brown. Frog blushing. That might be when they're hot or cold or stressed or just moving around a lot getting exercise.
You might want to check the temperature of your tank during the night and day otherwise I wouldn't worry.
I think for my frog it might have to do with temperature, as when I take her out to clean her tank, she turns green, but when she's in the warm tank, she's brown, and when she's in
the room temperature water, she is also green. I turned off the bulb above her tank that keeps it at about 80 F and just have her UVB light on now. The temp drops to about 76 at night.
Now it seems that every morning when I turn on her lights, she bright green and usually in her water dish or just out and about. Any explanation for this?
