    Default Treefrog Hibernation HELP!!

    Help please!

I am currently in the process of hibernating 4 hyla arborea, in an attempt to breed them in February.

I have slowly reduced their day-length, and temperature to coincide with the outside environment here in south west England. They cooled slowly in my garage and are now in my fridge in a small container. This container contains 2 inches of moist peat / soil mix, on top of which sit stones (with holes to hide),bark and sphagnum moss. However the frogs don’t seem to want to enter torpor and are simply sticking to the plastic corners of the tank, they are awake when I open the fridge even though they are in the pitch black and at 3-4 degrees Celsius most of the day.

I must add they haven’t eaten for about a month and look very healthy. Don’t want them to die but how do I get them to shut down completely??
