    Default Caring for Leopard froglett

Hello FF, I've acquired a tadpole from Petsmart that had come in their Feeder fish shipment. I've successfully raised the tadpole into a leopard frog/pickerel frog froglett. Im pretty sure Im doing things correctly but im just taking precautions. His housing is a 2.5 gallon sterilite tub with a 5 gallon tank screen lid [originally had the sterilite lid but assumed there would be too much humidity] paper towel, water dish and coconut hut. He use to have an aquatic setup with around 3 inches of water, once he grew his front legs, i lowered the water level to one inch and once his tail was gone, i housed him in the sterelite tub, He hasn't eaten anything yet. i have D.melonogaster fruit flies and hatchling night crawlers. should i not expect him to eat for a few days after regenerating hist tail? Should i still be keeping him in water? If I'm doing anything questionable, please drop a reply below! Great to be back

Hello..by no means i am an expert but i have found out a lot about leopards frogs in the last month since we had 2 tadpoles shipped with no idea what kind of frogs they were going to be.
Like you i was worried about the first one that came out of the water was not eating...i bought him some fruit flies and to be honest i have not seen him eating one yet...i assume he is just very shy because next day i dont see any around....i moved him from mostly water set up to a half and half set up....i didnt know they are semi aquatic and they will always need to have an area where they can fully summerge in water.....so to me it seems you are doing what you can to feed him...it takes a week after they absorb the tail for them to wanting to eat but they are animals and unless he is sick he will eat when he is hungry....just keep an eye next day after u put the flies and see if there any around...if they are not then he may be eating them just waiting to night time or when is comfortable..Im sure more experienced people will comment and give you better pointers....good luck!

Eats small crickets dusted, or gut loaded. This is a 27 gallon cube terrarium. Led lighting and gets sprayed once a day. This is a froglet I saved out of a feeder tank at a lps .
