Thread: How can i tell the gender of my frogs?

Default How can i tell the gender of my frogs?

I have 6 green tree frogs & i was wondering how i can tell what gender they are. I know the males call and to my knowledge only two of my six are calling. Does that mean i have only two males? I'm mostly just worried about tadpoles & how i would care for tadpoles.

Also i'm feeding my tree frogs small crickets, fruit flies, & mealworms. What do you guys feed your frogs?

All my pets are on photobucket:

Until the frogs are fully grown, it is near impossible to tell male from female besides croaking. And even then some frogs might not croak but still be male. There is no guarantee that you only have two males.

How large are the frogs? Mealworms are not nutritious and are hard to digest so I would recommend not feeding those.

Some of the frogs might be late callers, it's hard to tell when they're little.

I feed mine mostly crickets and dubias with the occasional nightcrawler cut up in pieces. I also use Repashy Calcium with D powder as a supplement because frogs can get calcium deficiencies from the limited diet in captivity. Really any calcium with D powder should work.
