Thanks a lot. I read somewhere that you can stir some substrate into the drylok before painting it. Is this true?

You can do it with titebond iii wood glue. I wouldn't do it with drylok though. And you probably shouldn't use the wood glue on anything that gets a lot water constantly running on it

And you can tint the drylok with non toxic acrylic paint

you can mix substrate into drylok, but you probably won't get the desired look. it will look more like adding sand to paint for traction, if that makes sense.

One last question and I swear ill leave you alone.did you lay down your egg crate when you foamed it in? Seems a little tough to make the look you have

Well you can make the egg crate base, add the drainage layer, you can add weed block on top of that and then foam on top of that

ummm, which tank, i have built a few lol a lot depends on my design. if i have access to equipment in an alternate way, i will foam the eggcrate under the background, but if i don't give myself easy access to stuff, i foam, then place the eggcrate. that way i can pull the floor up easier. believe me, removing eggcrate that has been foamed over is no fun whatsoever.

ooooh, that one was a failed build. the foam became buoyant and lifted off the base of the tank even though it was siliconed in. if i were to do that one again, i would silicone plastic screws to the floor glass and foam directly into them to keep the background adhered in. or something to that effect.

Hi, everyone... Hope all is well... I put my first coat of drylok on late last night and was wondering about substrate. I saw somewhere to do 3 coats and add the substrate on the last coat. I'm assuming I cant do any substrate on the parts that will be underwater right?
