    Default Gender Help

I always am looking on toad websites to figure out the gender of my toad, but to me both genders look exactly like my toad. So, can you help me figure out the gender of my toad? I think she's a female hence the name Lola, but I'm not sure anymore. She never chirps when picked up and I've never heard her chirp, but it looks like she has a gray throat. I'm stumped. Her are some pictures to help you guys. I don't really even know what species she is. Though I'm pretty sure it's American. (She was caught in Cook County Illinois, so she's either an American or Fowler) Name: PIC_0371.jpg

Your right , lola is either an American or fowlers toad, they get confused often because of their similar call and look. to tell if your toad is a female, she will be larger, around three maybe four inches, im slightly confused on the dark throat though, if you ever hear lola chirp, she's most defenately a male. Male American toads are around two to tow and a half inches

Right now Lola is about 3.5 inches. Her dark throat in some of those pictures is because of shadow and she was burrowed. In one of those pictures she just shed so you can see her throat is light. But yeah, I have never heard Lola chirp. She has made tiny little squeaks before but that was rare and it wasn't a long trill or release call.
