Hey guys,
i own two whites tree frogs, about 9 months old. They are both absolutely fine, living in the medium/ tall exo terra terrarium. (60 x 45 x 60 cm / 24” x 18” x 24” (WxDxH)). Humidity between 60 and 65, temp at around 80. I have a heat mat covering the left hand side of the tank to manage the temperature.
Almost every other terrarium I have seen has lighting set up for the amphibians. Do I really need lighting if the temperature is ok? I am aware that UVB helps with calcium uptake but their food is currently dusted with vitamin and calcium supplement 4 times a week.
Of course, if its needed I will run out and buy some lighting. If you guys would recommend it, which lighting/ bulbs would you use?
many thanks,
Floatybear
The only reason I use lighting is for heat (red or black bulb) and LED for the live plants.

I don't use lighting. I just keep the light on in the room. When I start to put plants in the tank that is when I will start to use a UV light.
you do need lights, all tree frogs do - UVB 5.0 for your big tank, it will help them in Ca metabolism as well as general well being.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
