I think these are so damn cool looking.

That frog is really cool looking, maybe it's just darkened itself to fit in with it's surroundings? It looks like it has some green and brown there too.

Its a wild Cornuta. They're different than captives. Its probably a Brown Phase that is darkening to match the dark soil its buried in.

Ya I thought that was probably the case.. I'd sure love to have one the color of the one in the video.. Black with the bright green stripes.

Yes that would be very nice to have. You would probably have to get something similar to rainforest soil with dead leaves and such to get a Brown to shift to black.

EDIT; See the dead leaves to the right of the frog? It almost exactly matches those dead leaves.

I believe male Cornuta tend to get considerably darker than females so Bart you might want to get a male brown-phase Cornuta lol.

Those should be obtained easier and cheaper than a full green Cornuta. But it would be a little bit more challenging to get a male cb baby. So you might want to get a pair to increase your chances? lol

Does anyone know where to get substrate that would be dark enough? I have a male Cornuta that would be perfect, I caught him going darker the other day because of the Eco-earth but I definitely need something darker if he's gonna be able to make the full transformation, and after Bart's post I can help but want him to look exactly like that!

A Pic of him more towards his normal color, taking a honey bath in a large cereal / salad bowl, and him trying to darken and blend into the eco earth, for comparison.
Clearly he still has a way to go. (he was a bit darker before i took away his log cover to take pictures to capture it haha)

    Any help is much appreciated,
    Thank you!

ps i apologize for the pic not being at the correct viewing angle, I uploaded it from my friends Mac, and Im more of a pc guy

Look at joshsfrogs. He sells darts but should have leaf substrates that are dark.
