Default Can someone verify how much a baby red eyed tree frog will eat?

    Hi guys,

I'm having trouble finding baby specific red eyed tree frog information, almost everything I find is geared towards adult frogs. My understanding from other sources I've read were that babies and juveniles should get as much food as they want, but heres the thing:

I have two baby frogs, barely bigger than a thumbnail and they go through a bag of crickets (15 small crickets per bag*) every night roughly. Is this normal? I don't want to overfeed them.

(I originally thought they went through a bag every two nights, but after putting a full bag in last night I noticed there were no crickets in the morning. )

Also can someone verify if the vitamins I am using are correct? I have this:

    http://www.amazon.com/Rep-Cal-Calciu...0371359&sr=8-9

but it was suggested several places that I also use this in conjunction with the first vitamin:

    http://www.amazon.com/HERPTIVITE-Mul...0371359&sr=8-8

I also feed the crickets special cricket food to increase vitamins.

*The crickets are roughly double the size of the space between the frogs eyes, since thats the smallest they have where I live. We have crappy pet stores.

    Hi Chrono1081,

These little babies need little crickets.
I'm very surprised to read this: "*The crickets are roughly double the size of the space between the frogs eyes, since thats the smallest they have where I live. We have crappy pet stores."
They could struggle with a cricket that is too large? I suppose if THEY are eating them , then-- that's good!

I have to ask ( no disrespect) but do they have any help ? Are they housed w/ any company ?

YES , you should feed babies this size - daily.
Yes, you should use the vits as well.
    I dust on separate nights.
Remove uneaten crickets each am after the frogs go back to sleep.
Put the crickets back into the cricket bin to feed.

    Thanks for the advice!

They seem to be eating the crickets just fine (that was my worry too). They are both babies and they're the only two in the cage. The first two days they didn't eat much but then the one night I put an entire bag of 15 crickets in so I could count the remaining ones in the morning to get an idea of how much they would eat, and they were all gone in the morning 0_0.

What sucks is the Petco here sometimes is out of crickets so I try and stock up when possible. Luckily I've never ran out yet (although I've come close).

For the crickets, I feed them special cricket food thats rich in vitamins.

I think the crickets, even though they're eating them may still be too big. I tend to find cricket parts in the tank each morning 0_0

Thanks so much for the advice
