I have found two of these little guys in my basement so far. January in Northern Rhode Island and Northeastern Connecticut isnt exactly weather-friendly. I have never seen this happen before. Can someone help me identify them? I have them set up in a nice cozy terrarium and have been trying to figure out what to feed them. I keep finding pictures on line that are leaning toward what we call "peeps" here. Not sure though. I did my best to figure out how to attach the photo. Hope it works. Happy new year all.
I have spent years and hours in the Catskills / woods. I looks like a wood frog to me? If so, it might have some striping on it's legs ( but not all do) . I really can't see the side of the frog in the pic. A mature frog would be about 2 -1/2inches. The tummy would be almost white. The dark patch behind the eye is what makes me think it is a wood frog. The call sounds like quacking.

Ya I agree. I think it is in fact a wood frog. You could ask frogluver, she knows wood frogs like the back of her hand lol
