    Default 5 gallon tank

Hi as the title says, i have got a spare 5 gallon tank, and have been considering what to put it in, i previously kept a small number of endlers in it, but have since sold these and now have this spare tank... I have read that 5 gallons is too small for a pair of FBs, but again have also read that keeping one toad on their own can result in the toad, not appearing to be very active and in the wild tend to be found in small groups.

i do not have the option of getting a larger tank simply down to space.

so my question is, would it realistically be cruel to keep one on its own, and two is definitely out of the question in a tank of this size?

I have attempted to create more land by staggering bog wood to create an 'upper level' to some extent

any help or comments would be much appreciated?

    thank you tony

I personally think that five gallons is too small to be a permanent enclosure. Firebellies are very active frogs and although they could exist in a five gallon their quality of life would be compromised. Right now PetCo has a $1 tank sale so you can pickup a ten gallon for $10 bucks. Which ever you go with make sure that you have a "locking" lid. They are incredible escape artists.

I second Cheri's opinion. 5 is not enough for other than very temporary tanks.

thank you very much for the reply, i kinda of guessed this was the case... thank you for the heads up on the tank to, its not that money is an issue, but literally space, i could fit one in the house, but i don't think my missus would be to impressed with me taking up anymore space in the house than i already do lol.

    thank you again tho

I use my five gallon during tank cleaning, for my three toads. But that is a maximum of two hours. I'm glad you know that this tank is to small. Anyway, I hope you get to keep these toads at one time or another, they are great little guys.
