I added a bigger water container to the tank and now the frog wont get out! I have been planing his/her future tank to be mostly water but i dont want to worry about cleaning water everyday. Will a aquarium internal filter be sufficant for the loads these guys throw out?
Depending on the size of the frog possibly not.
Water filters help keep the water clearer and minimizes odors, but it is not enough to filter the nitrates caused by fecal matter.
I have a waterfall feature with carbon filter pads. It helps a bunch. I purchased it in the reptile section of a pet store.
I used to have red belly toads who spent 90% of their time in the water and they didn't mind it at all.

i use a canister filter for filtering my Bullys lagoon, its great i change it once, maybe twice a month. depending on his pooping in it. its a beast of a filter with 4 layers of filtering. i also use the "For turtles, an Pond" filter bags. over a month now an it still goes strong, not a problem. An bully loves his lagoon time. an the occasional fish
Nice lagoon!

that was exactly what i was thinking about building. i also thought i had to get a turtle/pond filter
btw how to you get the water in/out of the tank. i was thinking about drilling holes through the glass but it seems risky.
the lagoon is worth raving about!!!!!!
I hope you'll post pictures when you're done .

You can use a syphon to get water in & out of the tank, it's what i use with my FBT & one of my fish tanks. It's generally easier if you dont have any subtrate on the bottom less stuff to suck up. Either just use a plastic tube to syphon it up or you can get hand pumped ones form the pet store.
No drilling needed. If you go with anything else smaller then a canister filter, you will have to change it every 3 days, the coco fiber an poop clogs the filter almost instantly. A canister filter lets you clean it out fast, drain the tank fast and clean it every 3 weeks or so. AN ya turn off filter, take out the fill tube, put in pail, turn on filter an it drains the tank. Then use the sucking tube to clean the tank while it drains. The canisters come with flexible tubes so you can run them into ya tank easy as pie. I have tried seems like all little filters, tanks, waterfalls floggers an misters.. best things to keep in mind. Dont go cheap, do it right, an go big. when you see how big a Male gets in person , then you know why i just built this 40 gal breeder for him lol(Jabba, @Junglebobs )ruffly 7-8 inches
