About 10 minutes ago my brother just gave me a fish tank, it's been sat in his garage for about 3 months. I asked what happened to the goldfish that were in it, he said "I woke up one morning and they had literally disintergrated". I'm going to be using it for about 2 weeks while I fix up the annoying things about my frogs current tank so they will have maximum area to climb and move etc.
So obviously the tank is going to need some mega cleaning but what with and how?
Give it a good bleach bath!
You can use a very diluted bleach solution and scrub with a soft sponge. Make sure to rinse VERY well to get all of the bleach out. White vinegar is great for removing calcium deposits.
Yep. Sorry Luke I wasn't very detailed, but Sherry responded before I could add more!!!!
Sorry It took me forever to write that too! It is hard for me to explain things. But now he has left us... Bad Luke!
I got side tracked and forgot what in the hell I was suppose to be doing...My kids are trying to steal my powers...or my brain. One of the two.
That happens to me all the time!
Lol thanks for the replies will give it a good scrubbing with bleach in the weekend.
My new question is... how does a fish disintergrate???
You could also use KMnO4. You should get it at most pharmacies. In germany it is very cheap and long lasting. You can also desinfect your mouth and skin with it.

They didn't just disintegrate, they most likely died off one by one and rotted away. Either that or the water quality was so bad, they jumped and dried up. Amanda, not a bad theory, but if water gets acidic enough to dissolve a fish, you have bigger problems on your hands.....lol

Hey I know it was far fetched! I highly doubt that the fish just one day disenegraded. *Poof* I think today is going to be one of THOSE days for me. I have a problem with posting out of my norm today.
My brother said he just woke up one day and they had disintergrated not 100% but they weren't fish anymore.
Maybe someone put something in the tank that wasn't supposed to be in there.
