    Default Another question

When I had my red belly toads I was given two red spotted salamanders/newts and put them into the tank also. They all lived well together and none got sick and all ate well and grew normally. They even swam together. The salamanders lived for about five years. And the red bellies even longer. Was I just lucky?

I am even more wondering if it is safe to have salamanders in with my RETF's? Or will my frogs try to eat the salamanders?

    Just wondering.

Considering those newts have been known to live to 40+ years of age, I don't think you got lucky. Poor newts.

You shouldn't mix them at all. It's dangerous for the animals as John stated their life expectancy was really cut short.

I wish I would have known. My buddy who works at Petsmart must not have known either. I appreciate this website. The other care sheets on the web and books I have read have very little information other than the simple basics.

I'll definitely just keep my red-eyes then.
